On the occasion of the celebration of the Columbus Day, the Zoological Park La Era De las Aves, located in the town of Fresno el Viejo will open its doors to visitors from Saturday, October 9th until Tuesday, October 12th and will offer free activities during these days.

The association La Era De Las Aves is in charge of taking in all those irrecoverable animals coming from the different recovery centers spread all over the territory of the community of Castilla y León, in the same way it also takes care of those exotic or other animals that have been pets and that for different reasons end up being taken in here.

During these days all the activities that take place in the Park (guided tours, talks about birds of prey…) will be in charge of the association La Era de las Aves and the donations that are collected with the visits will be destined to the care and feeding of all the animals that are sheltered in the Park.

Most of the species are animals that have been abandoned or collected after an accident in their natural environment and also pets that, for various circumstances, can no longer be cared for.

Unlike other zoos where you go to admire the different species, in ‘La Era de las Aves’ they are committed to environmental education and give importance to the conservation of animals and the natural environment in their visits.

This project emerged in 2011 and since then it has become a tourist attraction in the area. Currently this zoo has 100 species of animals and more than 350 specimens. We can find well-known animals such as chickens, donkeys or rabbits, but also less common ones such as an Emu, Llamas or even a Walabí.

Guided tours: In the guided tours you will be told the history of each of the animals that are in the park and how they got there. You will also learn about the care and biology of the different species. These visits will have a price of 2 € per person.
